Hello Chums;
In this post we are going to learn about hobbies; By the way, what are hobbies?
Hobbies are activities that we do in our spare time [free time].
A) Things people play: cards, board games, chess, guitar, saxophone
You should know some people join clubs [become members] where they can play cards and chess.
B) Things people collect: stamps, coins, antiques
C) Outdoor activities: like hiking, camping, rock climbing, jogging
With these hobbies we often use the verb go, e.g. , I go camping in the summer. Or I go jogging ever morning.
D) Creative hobbies:
-
Caroline makes her own clothes. [She makes clothes for herself.]
-
Barbara likes photography.
-
Maria loves carpentry.
Note: when we start a hobby for the first time we often use the phrasal verb take up, and if we stop doing the hobby, we often use the phrasal verb give up, e.g. , I took up golf when I was 15, But I gave it up last year.
